Fred served our country in World War 2 in the South Pacific. He earned a Bronze Star for bravery and a Purple Heart for an injury sustained during the war. His brother James was born while Fred was serving and James tells of the day Fred came home – it is a large family gathering and all the women were crying and James being only 2 1/2 years old started crying, Fred picked him up and told him he didn’t even know what he was crying about – James was very young but could remember the day very vividly.

(some of their names were misspelled on their birth certificates which is the reason for the spellings “Pruett” and “Pruitt”
