Gloria June Pruett contracted diphtheria at the age of 2 1/2. She was hospitalized. Grandma Pruett told the story many times that she thought Gloria was getting better but the doctor didn’t. The doctor wanted to give Gloria a shot which might help but might not. The shot was given and Gloria died soon after. James Travis Pruitt was born December 24, 1942

His birth certificate was typed wrong so his last name is spelled “Pruitt” instead of “Pruett”. As a child he went by Pruett but when he enlisted into the army after graduating from high school, he was told he had to go by “Pruitt” until he changed his birth certificate.
