William Delano Pruett was the last of the Pruett children, the 4th boy. Grandpa Pruett would have been 51 years old at his birth and Grandma Pruett was 47. His brother Fred already had 4 sons by this time which made him an uncle when he was delivered (not too many people can say they have 4 nephews who are older than they are). He was always telling a joke or laughing and could find humor in every day life. Humor […]

Lucy is a loving, generous woman dedicated to her immediate and extended family. Along with her husband Paul, they have been servants of the Lord for decades – they have attended literally hundreds of family weddings and funerals – always there to support, encourage, pray, listen, talk, give guidance and to show God’s grace-mercy-love-forgiveness to all. They have been strong trees in this forest – tall with broad bases weathering the storms of this life, taking on the winds and rains […]

Roy Earl (as everyone knew him) was a unique man with great qualities. He knew how to laugh and have fun – he woke most visitors to the mountain with his handkerchief tickling their ear or nose. Family was his pride – he knew every person born in the lineage of Roy and Sadie Pruett and could recite their birthdates, full names, spouses names, where they lived and what they worked at (wish he was here to help us now). […]

Ida was an avid crochet artist – she crocheted many intricate pieces with words and pictures. She loved crosswords and word games and was competitive with them. She always carried a smile and a positive attitude and had love to go around to all she came in contact with. It is told she was a pretty spoiled child in this large family – partly because she was the child born after the death of Gloria and partly because she was […]

Gloria June Pruett contracted diphtheria at the age of 2 1/2. She was hospitalized. Grandma Pruett told the story many times that she thought Gloria was getting better but the doctor didn’t. The doctor wanted to give Gloria a shot which might help but might not. The shot was given and Gloria died soon after. Grandma grieved for an extended period of time – her children were her life and she loved each one dearly. There are no known pictures […]

We all knew her as “Euby”. She told that as a child her family called her Euby so when she started writing her name, her elementary teacher at Low Gap school told her if she was going to go by the name “Euby” then she needed to spell it E-U-B-Y. She did and that is the way she signed all her cards, letters and papers. Euby never married and never conceived any of her own children but she had lots […]

Eunice lived on Atwell Mountain her entire life. She was a loving, caring, fun, witty matriarch in this family. She worked hard all of her life. She walked the mountain for pleasure and to do chores. She always had a poem, story, song or dance to share with the children. She got up each day at the crack of dawn to start breakfast – in her younger years she cooked on a wood cook stove so her day started by […]
